Day 5

Well that was weird.

So lets re-cap yesterday. I skipped breakfast, aside from a mug of green tea. Had a lunch of pork liver pate with baby carrots and the last of my leftover pork ribs with steamed zucchini. All was well and good.

After work I went over to a friends place, played some guitar and indulged in a draft root beer. Then headed home and made these:

About an hour later they were transformed into this:

So aside from the incredibly delicious meatballs there’s a good portion of sweet potato vermicelli, boiled and then sautéed with homemade chicken broth. I’ve never tried the vermicelli before and won’t be making it a staple by any measure (it’s pure sweet potato starch) but I wanted to give it a go as it seems like a likely candidate for when I have non-Paleo company over. It was pretty delicious and went well with the meatballs. I ate about half of what you see there, put the rest in the fridge for lunch the next day and then pretty well immediately felt horrendous.

My first thought was “well, I finally poisoned myself” but if anything I had overcooked the meatballs. I’d have gone to bed right away but I had a pork roast in the oven and had to wait for it:

.
Mission accomplished. Went to bed, tossed and turned until I fell asleep around 2:30 and then slept for a solid 8 hours.
 .
Here’s the kicker. I woke up this morning and felt fine? No idea what or why or how. I’m going to chalk it up to some sort of voodoo curse and try and forget about it.
 .
So onto today then. I had tea for breakfast and the leftover sweet potato vermicelli and meatballs for lunch (which I was somewhat nervous about but I felt fine all day so that’s not the issue). For dinner I had the last of the leftover zucchini fried in some coconut oil with salt and pepper as an appetizer with a cup of bone broth:

If the broth looks a bit solid, well, that’s because it is. Very gelatinous which is apparently important if you’re wanting the nutrients that help heal things. Do some googling if you’re curious.
.
I’ll be having some broccoli, meatballs and sweet potato in a little bit after my walk and workout.
.
And we’re all caught up.
.
So who’s bored!? I’m getting bored just writing about this so I can only imagine what reading it must be like, especially if you don’t have some sort of autoimmunity. My hope is that when it’s all said and done this will be a handy resource for people starting down this same road.
.
That’s all for now, I do believe. I’ve got a mountain of dishes that didn’t get done yesterday to do. Damn…
.
.
And on Repeat today:
